*******************Please read the instructions before applying the Propalms v5 WMI patch*********************** files included with patch 0- apply_propalms_wmi_fix.cmd --> The script file to apply the patch. 1- NMTSEManager.NEW --> NMTSEManager.dll 2- NotificationServiceComponent.NEW --> NotificationServiceComponent.dll Q>> What is the WMI patch and what is it supposed to fix ? A>> WMI patch replaces the Propalms Debug driver (DebugDrv.sys located under \Program Files\Propalms\WTS) with a WMI class component. The WMI patch is supposed to fix stability issues where the Propalms Monitor service hangs or crashes causing it to go to the FALSE state on Propalms Console- Monitor - LoadBalancer page. It also fixes issues like Blue Screen of Death caused by the DebugDrv, when using Physical Address extension with RAM in excess of 4 GB. Overall it will improve the stability of the Propalms Application role. Q>> Is this patch only applicable to Propalms TSE v5 ? A>> Yes, this patch should NOT be run on any previous versions of Propalms TSE. Q>> Propalms Servers running which role, should the WMI patch be applied on ? A>> The WMI patch should only be applied on Propalms servers running the APPLICATION role. Q>> How do I apply the patch ? A>> Unzip the patch files to a suitable location on the Propalms APP server and double click the script file "apply_propalms_wmi_fix.cmd" to apply the patch. It is recommended that no users be logged in to the App server when applying the patch. A Restart of the server is Mandatory for the changes made by the WMI patch to apply. Q>>How do I know if the WMI patch has already been applied to my Propalms APP servers? A>> Things to look for 1) The DebugDrv.Sys file will be missing under the \Program Files\Propalms\WTS folder 2) The file version for the files NMTSEManger.dll and NotificationServiceComponent.dll under \Program Files\Propalms\WTS folde would be 0.0.0.0. 3) The registry entry for DebugDrv.sys file under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services will be renamed to Dis_DebugDrv Q>> What if I run the WMI patch twice? A>> It wont harm. It will not remove or unregister any files. Q>> How can I roll back changes made by the WMI patch ? A>> There are two ways of doing it 1) Uninstall Propalms TSE using Add remove Programs and then run the Propalms installer and choose the Propalms Restore Server option. 2) Undo each change manually, a) Copy the DebugDrv.sys file back into \Program Files\Propalms\WTS folder b) Replace the orignal NMTSEManger.dll and NotificationServiceComponent.dll under \Program Files\Propalms\WTS folder and register it. c) Restore registry entry for DebugDrv.sys file under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services to DebugDrv d) Restart the server.
